Ruike D1911 Framelock Flipper Folder reviewBy: Kwong on 10 November 2020Just got this in from Extac. I have a sizeable collection of folders (> 200) and this is one has already become my favourite. I like large folders and the D1911 fits the bill with a 4-1/4inch (105mm) blade that is a superb cutter with full flat grind to a very thin edge. Its a great slicer with thin stock and blade geometry. Some may consider it too fragile for high-speed, low-drag adventures, but I feel this is far more practical for daily use. Flipper action is spot on out of the box on bearings and the detent setting is just right for reliable deployment every time. I would have liked D2, but at the price point, 8CR13MOV this is a perfectly good blade steel that is easy to maintain and takes a wickedly keen edge. The handle is flatter than most due to the all-G10 construction on the show side. The pocket clip is not deep carry but I prefer this, as it makes removal from a pocket much easier. The way the clip is screwed into the frame also gives you an indexing point and extra traction to pull the knife out. This knife is one of the best executed I have seen at any price range. I can compare it to one of my other favourites - the Spyderco Resilience (another big knife with 4-3/8inch (108m) thinly flat ground 8CR13MOV blade) The Ruike D1911 is lighter, flatter, flips on bearings, and worked out a little cheaper. It also helps being a good-looking clean design and has the same 1911 designation as my favourite pistol the M1911 !!
