Gerber Fire Starter Ferrocerium Rod & Striker

The Gerber Fire Starter is a compact outdoor fire-starting tool designed to keep essential ignition and emergency signalling equipment together in one lightweight package. Small enough to attach to a backpack, outdoor kit or keychain, it combines a ferrocerium rod, durable metal striker, protected tinder storage and emergency whistle for camping, hiking and general outdoor preparedness.

At the heart of the system is an easy-to-spark ferrocerium rod paired with a sturdy metal striker. This simple mechanical design provides a dependable way to generate sparks without relying on batteries or a conventional lighter. The components are connected by a lanyard, helping keep the system together during transport and storage.

The Fire Starter also incorporates an IPX4 water-resistant storage compartment designed to hold tinder. Keeping suitable tinder protected and immediately accessible can make fire preparation considerably more convenient when conditions outdoors are less than ideal.

Gerber has added another useful preparedness feature to the lanyard: a 100-decibel emergency whistle. This provides a compact signalling option without requiring an additional standalone whistle in your equipment.

At only 11.9cm long and 74g, the Gerber Fire Starter adds useful fire-starting and signalling capability without taking up significant room in a pack. It is a practical addition to camping equipment, hiking packs, vehicle kits and general outdoor preparedness gear.
