Purpose-built for demanding game processing, the Gerber Randy Newberg DTS Hunting Knife combines two specialised cutting tools in one robust folding platform. Developed around the practical experience of hunter Randy Newberg, the DTS separates meat-processing duties from the harder work of cutting tendons and working around joints, helping preserve the primary blade for the tasks it performs best.

The oversized recurved primary blade is made from 440C stainless steel, a proven knife steel offering robust edge retention, corrosion resistance and durability. Its plain-edge profile provides an efficient cutting surface for controlled meat processing and general hunting tasks.

For demanding work around joints, the DTS incorporates a separate D2 Tendon Tool. Its specialised shape and tendon-cutting serrations are designed to reach difficult tendons, work around the atlas joint and handle contact with tougher material without unnecessarily dulling the main 440C blade. By separating these functions, Gerber allows the primary blade to retain its working edge for longer.

Durability extends throughout the construction. Dual steel liners reinforce the knife, while Gerber's barrel construction provides easier access when cleaning after field use. Separate locking systems support the two-tool design, with lock-back and pivot-lock functionality incorporated into the DTS.

The knife is designed for flexible handling rather than conventional pocket carry. Its ambidextrous configuration and deliberate absence of a pocket clip accommodate multiple grip positions. A retroreflective patch also makes the knife easier to locate in low-light conditions.
